Getting my Head around PS cs6 #InWorldz

For almost 11 yrs now I have been a content creator for virtual worlds, when I began in #Secondlife February 2006, I tried photoshop, but just could not get my head around it, then I found paint.net even with that it took me a while to learn about layers & I was always aware that there was only so much that I could do with the program, even with the plugins for brushes & effects. I knew that if I could just use #photoshop then my textures, therefore my designs, would be so much better. I did try Gimp as i heard that was very like photoshop, but I would open it up see the 3 windows & quickly close it again. I have tried photoshop a few times over the years & have never felt as comfortable with it as i do using paint.net. However I think all that is about to change with the PS Cs6. I don’t know why but suddenly its beginning to make sense to me. I am comfortable with the interface though its a lot harder than the one I am used to with #paint.net, I don’t feel as overwhelmed by it as I once did. There are 1000’s of tuts on youtube on how to do things & I can hardly wait to begin designing my very 1st item of clothing with this wonderful program. I love all of the brushes I have found Free & installed. I love playing about with them all & seeing the wonderful effects I can use on my textures. For years I have gone with ‘You can’t teach an old dog new tricks’ now its ‘Your never too old to learn’ I put it all down to my faith in LOA which has literally changed my life since I became a deliberate creator of my own reality. There is Nothing I cannot be, or do, or have!

Farewell..

This has been a very hard decision to make, but it had to be made. Those that know of my real life, will know that my Wonderful, amazing children, (though they are adults now not kids) have clubbed together to send me on a much needed Holiday, I haven’t had a Holiday in 10yrs & have spent the last 7yrs living in a lot of pain from medical problems that forced me to have to give up my Job. So life had become glum & it was only my virtual Life that saved me… until I found a different path

The path I walk now is the path of Reality
I am Happy
I am Blessed
I am Living… once again

Farewell dear friends

Branching Out…. again!

In 2009 when I became completely dissatisfied with Secondlife, having been there for 3yrs at that point. I set out to find me a new world, with the intentions of setting up my virtual business on them. Well the 1st grid I found became a disaster after only 2mths in, I don’t think it is even around anymore, but that disaster led me to my present virtual world… InWorldz… my Home. I did try others, with that same intention of setting up a store, but I never felt comfortable in them & most did not have a currency, so I stuck with InWorldz, giving up secondlife entirely when they 1st started changing Tos & it was explained to me that basically, they owned my stuff! I also gave up on the idea of having a presence in all worlds, I had made an avatar in most, but that was about all I had done. There was one I did open up a store in… Avination, but that was short lived, no one there, not at that time, wasn’t worth the effort & it is a big effort to open a store & fill it with your goods on any world.

I have been in Inworldz for over 5yrs now & just recently I have had that urge to discover new worlds again. Not to find myself a new home, I am happy with the Home I have in InWorldz, even if I am tired of all the recent drama we have seen on the Forums. I have the intention of branching out, setting up my store in new worlds & having some sort of presence in each.

I found 2 new worlds… The Adult grid & Virtual Paradise Grid Both Grids owned by People I know from Inworldz #VPGrid being the one I feel most comfortable in because it has a different feel to it, like a breath of fresh air…

So I have been busily uploading some of my content & stocking up my stores in each grid. It isn’t an easy task to do & doesn’t leave me much time for creating NEW, but its a slow time in VW’s with the summer being here & most People out enjoying the Sun & not stuck behind their computers & in VW’s much.

I have also set up a blog for Virtual Paradise Grid with the intentions of running that the same way I run this blog, as an informative place… well that’s the intention anyway lol. I have made some new pages on my Store blog so people can see what content I have in each grid

I hope you will come visit my stores in each world, should you decide to venture there
Bye for now

Meshing around in Inworldz

Mesh has finally come to Inworldz!

Mesh is completely new for me, I had worn it in SL, but didn’t really know that much about it. Now I am learning super fast! lol. There is so much that goes into it, I don’t just mean the creating, its all the rigging & weighting you have to learn. I began a few months back learning Blender… boy is that an experience! I am comfortable with the interface now & I keep a handy list around for reference. I made a couple of simple skirts, which I had thought were correct they were nothing special, but I had created them. I uploaded these to Inworldz when Mesh was activated & although they moved with my Avatar it was clear that they did not deform as they were supposed to do with the deformer having been added to the IWv2 Viewer. I tried several ways, I didn’t even know if I was uploading them correctly. Then I came across some free meshes, I uploaded a few, still the same they just were not deforming. A friend then took a look at them & uploaded them to see what was going on… apparently they were old files & the rigging was off slightly & that was why they did not deform.

Luckily I was able to open them in Blender 2.67 & I began to re rig them, following the tutorials I had been using to learn how to make mesh clothing. I uploaded the newly rigged files & hey presto… they worked with the deformer… hurray! I thought, but oh… why are they distorting the new textures I had made, they hadn’t done that before… and here is where I quickly had to learn all about weighting.. until I get that right I wouldn’t even begin to release them.

It is a trial & error which is how I learnt to do all I can do anyway.

Right now I am trying out different ways to weight the mesh so that they move perfectly on the avatar without breaking or distorting my textures. Texturing them is really quite simple, a lot easier than texturing a sculptie I have found. I am enjoying learning this new skill, I just had not realised how much work was involved… no wonder they charge so much for Mesh content in SL. It certainly makes you appreciate the expense once you know exactly what is involved behind every item of mesh clothing.

There is good Mesh & bad mesh & I want to only make good Mesh, so Watch this space 😉

Happy Meshing!
